National Park Foundation

The National Park Foundation (NPF) is the official nonprofit partner of the U.S. National Park Service, dedicated to supporting and enhancing America's national parks through private funding and strategic partnerships. Established by Congress in 1967, NPF plays a pivotal role in preserving and protecting over 400 national park sites across the country .

Conservation and Support Initiatives

NPF's conservation efforts encompass a wide range of programs and initiatives:​

• Land Conservation: Since 2015, NPF has protected over 37,000 acres of land across national parks through acquisitions and grants, including the addition of new park units and the preservation of culturally significant sites.

• Habitat Conservation: NPF collaborates with the National Park Service to restore vital ecosystems, such as wetlands and coastal areas, enhancing biodiversity and resilience against climate change.

• Youth Engagement & Education: Through programs like Open OutDoors for Kids, NPF facilitates outdoor experiences for underserved youth, fostering a connection to nature and promoting environmental stewardship .

• Community Partnerships: NPF supports over 450 park partner organizations, providing grants and resources to strengthen local communities and enhance park experiences .​

• Resilience & Sustainability: NPF invests in projects that improve the sustainability and resilience of national parks, addressing challenges such as climate change and infrastructure needs
