Jean Habeck

Fine Artist/Acrylic on canvas/Tile painter/Owner and Graphic Artist of Graphix Studio 17

Born in the Midwest, in Wisconsin and Illinois, Jean Habeck began her artistic journey at an early age, drawing and painting as a response to hearing loss from German measles. She later attended the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, for Graphic Design/Illustration, finishing her studies at the Palais Kinsky in Vienna, Austria. Jean's extensive travels include going across Europe, Iceland, Mexico, and the U.S. have enriched her perspective and fueled her creativity.

Inspired by nature, Jean draws from personal hikes, photography, and her time on the Pacific Coast, having lived in Del Mar, CA, and Portland, OR, where she also worked in a photography studio. She captures the essence of natural landscapes, portraying expansive mountains, serene seas, and the unique spirit of animals in their environments. Working with acrylics and low-fire glazes, she combines expressionistic elements with file and canvas. Jean has developed a unique style of art by merging traditional and digital techniques. She starts with photographs of her original artwork and brings them into Photoshop, where they transform the artwork by adding graphics and altering the background. Special effects further enhance the artwork, giving it a fresh, dynamic style that bridges the gap between traditional painting and modern digital design.

Jean founded her freelance art business, Graphix Studio 17, in Keystone, CO, where she initially worked within the ski resort industry. She later worked for a major tile company, producing hundreds of tile paintings that reached clients nationwide and internationally. Her pieces have been showcased in prestigious venues such as the original Buell Mansion and highlighted in Channel 7, The Denver Post, and Colorado Homes & Lifestyles.

Jean's artwork has been featured in the Parade of Homes, restaurants, stores, and art galleries throughout Colorado.

Her Fine Art and file paintings have reached clients across the U.S. and abroad. After earning a BA in Art Education with a Minor in Painting/Drawing from CSU, Ft. Collins, she also taught in the public school system, Jean continues to create and exhibit her work in a Blackhawk, CO gallery.

Jean has also recently completed a book project featuring 16 talented women artists from around the globe sharing our life stories of how we overcame our trauma through our artwork.
