Nicole Mittman
Artist & Professional Wildlife Biology Technician
About the Artist
Nicole Mittman is a professional wildlife biology technician, amateur artist, and fan of (figuratively!) killing two birds with one stone— she loves painting her study subjects, wildlife native to North America.
Nicole was born and raised in Nebraska, where she first started selling art in high school to raise money to go on a trip to Costa Rica. Her biological fieldwork has since taken her anywhere from the deciduous forests of southern Illinois collaring gray foxes to Yellowstone National Park recording wolf behavior. These days, she monitors endangered black-footed ferret populations in South Dakota’s Badlands region for the nonprofit Prairie Wildlife Research.
“Honestly, it’s only right to give back to the natural areas which have already given so much to me. I wouldn’t be who I am today without our wildlife and national parks.” - Nicole
She made all the designs available via the organization’s online store. All profit raised through the link funds conservation of black-footed ferrets and their closely linked prey species, black-tailed prairie dogs!
To order a custom painting, contact Nicole on her Instagram or email and say that Art for Our Parks sent you for 25% of your purchase to be donated to environmental organization of your choice.
