Wildfire Creations

Artist: Kylee Taylor | Medium: Mixed Media

Hello all! My name is Kylee and I create artwork with pyrography and acrylic paints. Day to day, I work as an environmental educator and program specialist in Colorado Springs, CO. Nature is a critical component of nearly every aspect of my life. From the work I do to my hobbies and travel, the natural world is present.

I see my art as a form of expression for myself, of course, but also for others as well to learn, connect, and hopefully steward the environment around them. I started selling my artwork in 2017, focusing on acrylic and wood burning mediums that were sold through Instagram and Facebook. Then in 2022, I officially named my business Wildfire Creations after my favorite flower, the fireweed, to tie in wood burning as fireweed is one of the first plants to appear after a fire. Wildfire Creations has since been part of craft shows, commissioned artwork, artist showcases, an artist in residence program, and several storefronts.

Much of my life and career has revolved around the outdoors and I hope to inspire stewardship through art. Growing up on a ranch in Nebraska, I was entrenched in the outdoors; at a perfect intersection of the Sandhills and Platte river valley. My career in environmental education has taken me to various places but my love for the Great Plains has never waned.

As I envision the future of Wildfire Creations, I am shifting my focus toward making art that I not only enjoy, but that has a mission and purpose. A main passion of mine in the outdoors is the conservation of prairies. This critical ecosystem is fragmented, overdeveloped, and underappreciated. Even while living in/near the mountains of Montana and Colorado, places known for their beautiful mountains, the nearby prairies still have my heart..
